“How to Not Get Taken By a Personal Trainer”
Special Report
Losing weight on your own is stressful, fortunately there is help out there.
Is it more than stressful learning all you can and going to the gym and eating good, only to lose nothing?
Most people that try it on their own, end up failing, no matter how hard they try to lose weight.
Personal trainers present you with the best solution, far and wide, to your weight loss problem.
They can help motivate, keep you accountable, introduce you to other exercisers and guide you to weight loss effectively.
However, most trainers are not out for your best interests, and they end up doing more bad than good...
The sad fact is that they will end up soaking your wallet before you lose any extra fat.
When you are at the gym, watch the uninterested trainers just basically watching their "client" and holding a stupid clipboard.
Have you ever seen somebody that worked with a trainer for what seemed like months and only got hurt or no results?
Most trainers just do their job, and do not have the skills interpersonally to get you in the fat loss zone.
A personal trainer for hire is not your ideal candidate for your weight loss goal. Instead look for the ones active in the community as volunteers or ones that do things for free for the community.
If you've been around the town, you've no doubt heard the stories... The moron trainer always apologizing for being late or just flat out missing the appointment. The trainer that babbles about themself all session long. Or the one that promises you guaranteed results and all that happens is that you guarantee to never waste your money again!
Trainers can definately give great sales pitches and awesome, above ordinary, demonstration workouts. So let me tell you what to look for before, during and after seeking out a trainer:
The Sorry Facts and Problems with Many Personal Trainers...
After going in and meeting each club owner and seeing the trainers training clients in this area, I have to say there is alot of standing around counting reps and dishing out useless information about the trainer's personal life.
If you want to hire someone to work you out safely and effectively, ask that they don't count reps, you could hire a child to do that and they would love it!
Before you go out and hire a trainer to talk about your life situation, remember, thats for therapists and counselors. Don't get trainers that you seem to click with for emotional reasons. Pick the slightly abrasive and confident ones that hold their ground. Hence, make if professional only. Its contrary to what you would think, but it works better at producing results when the trainers only concern is your results.
Here is the list of the trainers that are giving the rest of the industry's awesome people bad images:
Entry Level Therapist/Trainer - I think its so funny to hear trainers talk about psychology, even though they're supposed to be trained to tell the client they are there for the client's fitness only.
Need advice for your finances? No problem, they are your ticket to freedom. Even though they are broke.
Problems with your marriage? Not a problem, they will help you out, only to make moves on you.
Did you know that trainers do dope too? Yeah, ask for a drug test, you will definitely come across one. Its a big problem in the gym industry for trainers to snort lines while they "guide" you spiritually.
The fact of the matter is that 95% of trainers are total amateurs and haven't even been through their own life in their head even once, still living with mom nonetheless, but they will offer you advice!
Don't close your eyes when you spot a "Psychological Trainer" they will hypnotize you into giving up your wallet for games.
The ME ME ME Trainer - Okay, heres a tough one to gauge, but definitely pressure a trainer who reflects this image Im about to talk about.
If you have a trainer in front of you hell bent and selfish on their own training system without even asking you what you want to accomplish, or even your simple goals, stay away, you will get frustrated with their attitude.
How do I know? Because I lost money by being like this myself. It is irritating, and actually unsophisticated.
Ever seen a women who looks like shes on steroids? Thats what you will end up looking like if you hire a steroid freak trainer that gets you to be just like them! Nuts!
IF its your goal to tone up and lose weight, but your trainer wants to insist on his signature moves for some sport, it doesnt matter what you do with this trainer, they are leading you towards wasting your time and money by doing ineffective exercises, because they want to impress you and gloat.
Me Me Me Trainers dont see what you are trying to accomplish, only what they see as their exercises or their special moves that makes them happy to see others do.
Know what you are trying to accomplish before you meet any trainer. Dont hire the trainer that gets you huge.
Hire Me TO Pump You UP Steroid Abuser Trainer - Are you into seeing big nasty muscles? Hire this guy!
Because they are so into abusing steroids or even if they are genetically superior, these trainers can do anything to impress you. Even if they eat bags of chips and drink Pepsi, they will still be supermodel ripped.
Awesome for them right? But just because they are toned and beautiful looking, doesnt mean you are guaranteed this. But they sure do believe that you can be just like them. Silly trainers.
And their clients believe it too because any trainer in that kind of shape MUST know what he’s doing.
While some people can inject steroids, others like you and me are probably not going to do that, and we are still not going to get the physique of some fitness models that are walking around the gym saying they are trainers right?
Take it from me, I have the most training on fat loss behind me, studies, graphs, charts, seminars, books, studies, cases, actual testimonials that all say that it is very much a science to effect fat loss on the human body. If you are a steroid freak, then all that doesnt apply.
But “Genetically-Gifted, Steroid-Freak Trainer” doesn’t need to keep up on this science because hell, anything works for him!
Want to get hurt? Try the steroid freak trainer routine.
As they are the most dangerous of all trainers, avoid the steroid abuser trainer like the Bird Flu
The Rep-Counter - Beware the juvenile and often undertrained rep counter trainer.
Most gym trainers fit into this category and will testify under oath that they just see it as employment, they dont actually care about their growth and may even have another job. This is my only work by the way. I help people.
Most trainers get into the business in the following way:
Your local key gym is hiring down the street and Billy just happens to need a job to pay for his nightly parties and to get his dad off his back about a job.
He sees the ad and says "man thats easy stuff, all I have to do is count reps and look at chicks". Hes in decent shape and has taken health in high school so he know what to do to stay healthy. He decides to apply for the training certification course that the gym uses to recruit trainers.
The gym has a two day certification from some obscure authority on fitness, probably in Tanzania or something, with one day for equipment orientation and another day split between selling training packages to members that hate to be approached and the other half on how to sell shitty supplements for an 8% commission.
Billy is in love with his new job and all the chicks. Maybe he can score with some of them who knows?
Watch out for Billy the rep counting trainer, he will count your reps with great motivation.
Boredom Routine Trainer - This is the most hated of trainers in the industry, because they provide people with plenty of boredom and stagnant results.
Most of these trainers will put you on a piece of cardio equipment and go talk to their buddies for a half hour while you basically pay to use a piece of cardio equipment? What? Are you kidding me? It will happen.
Also watch out for their other routine that they learned at their certification seminar where they make you do the same weight training program over and over and over again. Your body gets quickly used to the same thing and will more often than not get injured and sorry looking.
Do NOT hire the “Boredom Routine Trainer” unless you want to end up paying high dollar to walk on a treadmill while you turn into a hunchback.
Know It All Trainer - Of course I know my stuff for weight loss and kettlebells and alot about the core and back training, and I can get you to do exercises that may effectually cease pain and weakness around your body. But this was my training. What Im not trained on is a list much larger than that.
Most trainers have egos, watch out for the know it alls and those that seem to know everything. Ask for their training, either what they did by themselves or paid someone to teach them. It is only fitting.
Another Ugly Fact That is Often Not Known...
I know you will find this hard to believe, but there are alot of trainers that cannot afford to find new business, so they will do whatever it takes to keep you around, including overcharge you for the same results you could get in half the time with a qualified and professional trainer.
If you are getting good results, they may see that as a ticket for your freedom, and they dont want that so they will prolong your waiting period for increasing results, only to watch their pocket get fatter.
And they know if they keep you uneducated that you will most likely completely rely on them to get into and stay in shape. This means big bucks for the trainer yet a feeling of dependency for you.
Expert trainers with nice facilities that need lots of rent mostly always do this. It is a great tactic I must admit, but I dont see that is ethical. I lived by integrity in the Army, I will always be that way.
Before you do anything...
When looking for a trainer, be on the lookout for the aforementioned types of bandit trainers.
There are alot of hard working well meaning trainers out there dedicated to get you into top shape. But unfortunately there are even more out there plotting to take your money while you hang out on the treadmill for an hour.
Watch out for the sales pitch, it will probably make you smile and giggle, as your wallet gets wiggled out of your pants. They are good at it.
Make sure you state your goals and what you’d like to achieve before you make a commitment to any trainer.
Ladies, watch out for your buff trainer type girlfriend, she will definitely make you rock up with huge arms and a neck.
And guys, before you work with a trainer, check out his legs, are they solid and proportional to his upper body? If not, seek another trainer, they will only make you top heavy and ineffective, and honestly quite ridiculous looking.
The sad fact is that 95% of personal trainers just look at training as a job.
So make sure you find one of the 5% who love to help people get into shape, find a trainer who trains people because that’s his or her passion in life. Find one that puts their money where their mouth is and guarantees results. Like me.
When you first get to sit down with your potential trainer, ask them why they got into the industry, this could save you money if the answer you get is stupid and irrational.
Insist on a trial workout or week of training before putting your hard earned cash down. If you are not completely motivated and spurred to great action by this trainer, then search for another one.
Immediately after choosing your trainer, make sure and go home and clear out your fridge and cupboards of any junk (it’s been my experience if there’s junk in the house, it will eventually get eaten).
Then go buy the foods your trainer tells you to buy. This will ensure you will lose fat as quickly and safely as possible. Eating the right foods is extremely important.
And another tip is to find a trainer who works with multiple people at one time. You’ll be amazed at how much more enjoyable the workouts are when there’s someone else beside you giving the workout their all as well.
The energy of a semi-private workout is much higher than with traditional one-on-one training and the results the clients get are much greater and come much faster.
So Now What?
You should now be able to go find you a trainer that is right for you that will be fair honest and motivating.
Also please note that I will be hitting you with some more emails that will help separate the fluff from reality with fitness.
